You can find further info on how to get this done at this  LINK  It is the ONLY way you’ll get a listing put up on the site. Don’t see a listing?

If you don’t see a listing, I couldn’t find it when I updated this for this month. Check here sometime on First Friday, a lot of places don’t send me updates until the last minute, so pop in here before you head out for the latest updates. Art Market Gallery

422 S. Gay Street Knoxville (865) 525-5265  Website

The Art Market Gallery of Knoxville will feature an exhibit of recent works by two artists recently juried into the gallery, Kory Kiker and Katie White. Each uses a medium of expression in a distinctive manner.

Working in his father’s furniture refinishing shop at age 14 sparked Texas-born Kory Kiker’s creative interest in wood art and he soon won first prize in a wood-carving contest. Today, he “paints” with wood and loves to challenge himself to create new, thought-provoking ideas through an intricate process called intarsia. This is a style of pictorial inlay using a mosaic of wood pieces in their natural, unstained hues.

Katie White’s porcelain sculptures are created using both hand-building and carving techniques. With nature a frequent source of inspiration since her years growing up on a farm in Illinois, this show features stylized versions of seed and egg shapes, each with the potential to blossom into something more intricate and beautiful. Often she contrasts the smooth translucence of porcelain with clay in its original raw state.

A First Friday opening reception for the exhibit is planned for 5:30 to 9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, with complimentary refreshments and live music: jazz, soul and fusion performed by saxophonist Marquis McGee.

Dawn Hawkins will be on view at the downtown Knoxville Tomato Head from February 2nd through March 1st, 2013.

My passion from childhood has always been drawing and painting. Growing up I traveled the world due to my father being in the military. This intensified my passion for painting by the intriguing amount of different landscapes that I encountered. The awe inspiring trees, coastal, and sunsets were a constant inspiration. I also have a huge obsession for Dragonflies I want to share with the world.

At the age of 15, my family settled in Knoxville, TN. My desire for art continued all during high school. Although I have not had any formal training since, I have a natural gift and love for painting.

I have worked with numerous mediums, but find myself most comfortable and passionate about acrylics and watercolors. My most recent endeavors include canvas painting and large scale murals in private homes and businesses. My most recent work is my series of dragonflies, their grace and beauty is amazing, one to be shared with the world.
