Knoxville First Friday listings for June, 2008

There are numerous businesses that participate in the monthly First Friday Art Walk. This is a listing of the places that participate, along with the featured artists. If there are additions or corrections, please use the contact form to get in touch with me.

Be Careful!!!!!!!!!
The city of Knoxville has changed the direction of some streets around Market Square, so streets that were previously one way are now two way, so please, make it a habit to look BOTH ways while driving, and especially before crossing a street.

Further details, and maps of the changes, are available here.

  • A1 Lab Arts

Featuring:
Victoria Rene Lenne
Paul Judson Dodez

  • Abode

Featuring:
Abode is featuring the Projector Screen Collection of Ashley Addair. The principle requirement for a projector screen is a high degree of reflectivity. On a globe with more questions than answers, screens become a fitting canvas for asking. In the projector series, painter Ashley Addair treats the disruption of equilibrium that occurs when we ask questions and the new information won’t conform to established patterns or explanations. Stop by and meet the artist. As always, the wine is on the house and the home goods are on you. See you Friday!

  • Bliss Home

Featuring:
Bliss will feature the work Stacey Fletcher Reynolds, who says: “My work is a process of layering; layering thoughts, memories, and ideas with sensual materials. A painting is a surface struggling between what we do not see and that which is seen directly. It is the love of mark making and materials that motivate the paintings. My obsession to make a surplus of marks creates form that becomes an abstraction of the idea. They seem abstract at first glance to the viewer, but have some sense of childhood imagery disguised among the colorful layers. The work is fresh with vibrant lively colors, layered with metaphors of myself and others contrasted with the chaotic approach of an energetic mark.”
